Review of X-Men 2
Well I watched it in the cinema this morning (yes, the 11:15am show). It's pretty good I must say. I don't follow the comic books, and I didn't even watch the first movie. The story was pretty so-so, predictable at times (the heroes always win). Effects were pretty fantastic without being too over-done.The Wolverine-Cyclops-Jean Grey relationship tension was quite well played out, I thought, though I'm not sure if that's true to the X-Men comic universe. There were a few good action sequences, of course Wolverine stole the show with the showdown with his female counterpart (played by Kelly Hu) at the end. I don't know her character's name and she never even spoke at all throughout the whole movie.
Overall I felt the film was mostly about Wolverine, as the secondary plotline was his own self-discovery. Sadly this meant the other characters didn't get quite enough in terms of character development, especially the 'kids' - Bobby (Iceman), Rogue and Pyro. Maybe some of it was already dealt with in the first movie? Anyway there were a lot of loose ends and it all looks like setting up for another sequel after this.

Yes...they are going to make another X-Men movie... The part of Jean/Wolfie-boy and the pussy 'one-eyed' freak is quite faithful to the comic. Well, Wolfie was okay...he got to kill lotsa people this time around...but what i really like was Nightcrawler....excellent Gfx and Sfx...just like in the coming..*poof*.
Urmm..still no iPod yet. Was in Sungei Wang on Labour day... went to the Apple centre there...*sob* it was closed..sigh.. oh well. Atria, here i come..

According to YK, Jean turns into Phoenix? Something abt some shadowy thingy in the water at the end...You guys would know better.
Ooohhh..yes, Nightcrawler's effects. Neat!
Jon...didn't ya go catch the first one with the other guys in Melbourne? I thought I was the only one who missed it. heh!
I think the iPod or in my vocabulary, iSpend (haha!), should be out by mid May. It's a MUST check-it-out!

After seeing X-Men 2 I'll be rumaging my dad's DVD collection to see if he has the first movie... No I didn't catch it in Melbourne, but I had heard people say it's good, and it's not just the fanboys who are ecstatic over seeing their favourite comic on the big screen. Nightcrawler's *poof* effect was excellent.. and Jean Grey's finale somehow seemed very Moses-parting-the-Red-Sea to me.. did anybody else feel that way?

Well, the end of X2 was didn't make any sense at all. AND its not faithful to the comic. This is what you get when the original writer for the movie left and its taken over by a 23 and 24 year old 'boys' to finish up the story. Hence its pathetic ending.
In the comic, Jean did not become The Phoenix, but rather The Phoenix took Jean over. The scenario was they were on some other world, Jean was flying the Black Bird, The Phoenix intervined with Jean, forcing her to crash the plane and die... at that time, the Phoenix had taken over Jean's body.
TAH DAHH !! Xmen explained.
:P

You can see that jean became the pheonix at the end. For one the fire in her eyes when see did strong telekenetic attacks. and second because at the end of the movie the shape in the water is in a shape of a large birs with its wings spred. Hopefully they show more of the pyro, iceman, and the guy who turned into a indestructable metal. also i believe Rouge will harnis her powers and be able to kiss iceman.
