Seeking Employment

My job hunting hasn't been very fruitful to date. I'm still sending endless job applications and resumes, and only receiving rejection letters and emails. Things are getting really tight, financially. Partly due to the Post incident, and a massive electricity bill which came a coupla weeks back. Even I can't imagine how we could have clocked up $370 over 3 months. When I used to stay in North Melbourne my electricity bill was HALF of that, for the whole apartment. Phone bill also came in at $140, because it included the line connection charge.

Today I went down to the city on a job application spree, dropping off application forms and my resume at Safeway (supermarket), Officeworks (office supply chain), Dick Smith (electronics supermarket), David Jones (departmental store), Dymocks (bookstore), Borders (bookstore) and Boost (fruit drink bar). I really hope I get something soon... My emergency reserves are running dangerously low.

Came across your site by accident. Similar to yourself, i am from Malaysia, lived in KL and studied and currently still working in Melbourne. Jobmarket is not that great either here especially for multimedia pp. I used to work for this firm www.mdf.com.au, maybe you can give them a go. Also, not sure how long you have been a PR, but Centerlink may be another option. Either that or start eating cornflakes for daily meals, something i used to do in my past to get by

I too have been seeking jobs but not in Australia or Melbourne but in our dear old Malaysia. I have been through a lot of experience in finding jobs and there was once I got myself sun burned on the face (hehehe..that a longg story).Anyways, guess what I'm working as now, hahaha..an EO in the HR department of a big company. And you do know right what's my qualification? hmm....surviving.

Finding a job Malaysia is different and far more easier than in Australia.Being a EO in HR is not such a great achievement, Mr. Poh here is looking for encourgement not someone to bang him down with your achievements. HR is a business related subject nothing specialized like medicine, programming etc.

To Jonathan :--
In terms of web design, you're up there... what about programming skills like asp.net, database etc. I have a couple of side projects which i work on and source out if i can find the right people.

To J~
My dear, dear J. I think you got the wrong idea here. Who say's I'm discouraging him or anything related to that. I'm just telling him my experience in finding a job here in Malaysia that's all.
Achievement's, what achievements ??, haha..you certainly don't know me a Jpoh does. The only achievement I have reach is only having an advance dip in Interactive Multimedia yet now working in HR Dept. as EO, don't you find it weird. Dude, you have not been in my shoes tru all the hardships I have been tru to get that advance dip and also surviving without true frens.
I admit Jpoh has better skills than me, duh, everyone in the class knows that.Imagine all your frens goes to RMIT and you're left alone to do projects and stuff. Imagine having no true frens but only frems that you can talk with if you're in the 'crowd'. So J, think first b4 giving a statement coz you don't know the real me. Furthermore, I have been seeking jobs a job related to my Dip,but to no avail, none succeed. I'm lucky to have a job now, so may I know something. If you're still studying, well good luck, and if you're working as in now, who are you working for, your own self or like me, working to support parents and siblings. Sigh..answer it to yourself.Any job is suitable when family needs arises. I hope you get what I mean.

To Jon,
Sorry Jon for being sensitive, just had to lay down some true facts for being accused of bringing u down in that manner.Anyways..I'm still trying to master Flash and it's scripts. Hoping to have my own website with flash and basic html base but u know me,I'm such a slow..slow..slow person..muahaha..geez.:o)
