Malaysian Shorts
Tonight (right at this very moment i think), there's a screening of Malaysian Shorts (short films) at HELP Institute. Was told about it last Thursday but i had already plans to come back to Ipoh on Saturday. The thought of going back to KL on Monday had occurred but then I figured I still have heaps of stuff to sort out, and I ought to... more »
Farewells
I'm back in KL for a few days. Just last night met up with some of my friends from my college and uni days. This will be going on for the next few days until i go back to Ipoh on Saturday, where I'll be having a reunion with my family. Phew. Last nights photos are up. I'll be adding more to the same album... more »
Langkawi Photos
I've put up 2 photos which I received from my friend whom i went with to Langkawi for vacation. He gave me prints, and I don't have a scanner so I used my digital camera to take a photo of the prints. Listening to Sigur Rós's ( ) now.... more »

New IC
Few days ago (18th March 03) I went to JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) to apply for a new IC, the new-fangled MyKad which has a smart-chip on it. I was told by someone that it's quite fast, same-day processing time. Well.... Lets start from the beginning.. I arrived at the dept at 9:30 and there was a LONG queue leading out of the main entrance.... more »

On the Eve of War
Well, this is it.. In a fit of moral blindness, the US is about to attack Iraq at around 9am tomorrow morning (Malaysian Time). How is everyone feeling? To all my friends and family, I love you all. Peace.... more »
The Countdown Begins
Today I've finally booked my air ticket to Melbourne. Provided nothing unforeseen happens, I'll be leaving on 5th April, to arrive in Melbourne early morning on the 6th. And my new life begins.... more »
Six Degrees of Separation, Proven!
Aaaaahh... just had a bone-chilling experience while browsing idly around blogs of people I don't know. Let's trace the path... After checking my own site for comments, i surfed over to Midnight Lily's to see if she's posted anything today. (she did). I noticed she had a link to teddybwear which I found rather strange cos my brother also has a link to teddybwear. Two... more »
Reciprocated Link
A couple of weeks ago my site was linked from Zilmer.com. Coolness.. :-) Priidu has a nice site himself, utilizing a 4 column newspaper-like layout. His tagline for the site, "Published weekly, updated often".... more »
I hate (some) Malaysian Drivers
On the highway back to Ipoh last night, I encountered one of the rudest drivers on the road. I was on the fast lane, going at 130kph (which is above the speed limit) while overtaking a lorry, then this Idiot Black Perdana came speeding from behind me. I was halfway overtaking the lorry when the Idiot reached me and was tailgating me while GLARING his... more »
Suggestion to World Leaders
Give all the world leaders a spankin' new computer and put them all in a cybercafe, (oh.. maybe in Korea? Heard they have fantastic cybercafes there), and get them to play a few rounds (heck maybe more than just a few rounds, give 'em the whole day!) of Counter-Strike or Battlefield 1942 or Unreal Tournament. That should ease their bloodlust and allow them to play... more »
At the Brink of War
Every Tom, Dick and Harry has already written a commentary on the anticipated attack on Iraq by the United States of America. He's my take on the whole issue: I hate wars. I find wars boring. I fall asleep watching war movies and listening to war stories. There is nothing heroic about wars. It's just glorified acts of murder. President G. W. Bush must be... more »
Are you still awake?
I just watched Waking Life for the second time and it is every bit as mind blowing as the first time I saw it. Somehow there seemed to be a lot of stuff I didn't remember, or maybe I just forgot. If you've ever felt disillusioned about life (we all do, at some point). Watch this. It's really deep. Really deep. Deep. "...except in the... more »

Hidden changes
Well I've been making changes to the site during the past few days, some minor, some major, some you probably wouldn't notice unless i told you. First of all, the archives for the blog, finally got all the kinks worked out (i think). The search box is no longer on the main page (betcha didn't even notice, heh!) but located within the archives listing. Changed... more »
H*R
For all you HomestarRunner and StrongBad Email fans (i know both my brothers Colin & Tristan are), The Strong Bad Email Files site has a lot of extra info including easter eggs and additional information and hidden references in each of the Strong Bad Email cartoons. Cool. Oh, and I like The Cheat. The Cheat is cool. He (it?) uses a tangerine iMac. :)... more »
Trekkin' Along
Being bored and restless, I came across Wil Wheaton's blog, by way of Midnight Lily's. For a while i was wondering why "Wil Wheaton" seemed strangely familiar to me, yet I couldn't figure out why. After browsing through his site a bit only did it hit me, "OMG this guy played Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation!". That show was one of my... more »
Cooking up ideas?
I stumbled across this site, the halfbakery quite by accident, and i'm still trying to figure out what it is. Looks quite interesting tho.. From what i have gathered so far, it's a place where you throw out your ideas (half-baked or not) to the open where other people can vote for or against it, giving it some sort of ranking which i have yet... more »
Email troubles
I've been having trouble with my email address. It appears that my me(at)jonathanpoh(dot)com address is bouncing for some people, so far I've identified it being to mail to and from jaring.my and yahoo.co.uk addresses. Any others, i don't know yet, cos obviously those emails can't reach me to tell me so. In case you're one of those affected, you can try emailing me at my... more »
Hot Hot Hot
Phew. I'm melting here. It's a blistering 36 degrees (yes, Americans, I'm talking about Celcius) indoors. Can't (or don't want to) imagine how high it is directly under the sun. While Australian summers hit 40 and above, but those are only a few days in a year. We've been having this heatwave for the past few days already..... more »
Traffic Jam
After I posted a news item on MacNN about the opening of the new AppleCenter, along with a link to my gallery hosting the pics i took, I started getting an insane number of click-throughs to that album. Some of those pictures got over 2000 hits the last i checked. Examining my server logs, I've used up 3/4 of my monthly bandwidth quota in just... more »
Some minor changes
Finally got round to fixing up my site a bit. I've now put my blog archives accessible to all, just click on the link on the column to the right. The posting date/time below every post (such as this one) is now a permanant link to that post in the archive. Did anyone notice the new link colours? like it or not?... more »
New AppleCenter in Kuala Lumpur
The latest addition to Apple retail presence arrived on 1st March 2003 with the opening of an AppleCenter in the Great Eastern Mall along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. I didn't manage to attend the grand opening but went there the following day on 2nd March. It is a huge store taking up 2 shop lots in the mall, but it's quite sparse inside. The interior... more »
