Well.. no luck in finding that page I was looking for, but I did find a really nice script which would do exactly what I'm looking for, and it's small and cross-browser compatible too (degrading elegantly for older browsers).

On a side note, this web site of mine does not validate to w3c standards. No, not even HTML 4.01 Transitional which is quite lax. :(

This kinda gives me an incentive to do a minor revamp to this site, at least to bring it to standards compliance. I'm not quite ready to redesign the whole thing over just yet. XHTML 1.0 Strict would be an achievement indeed. I'm also planning to implement CSS layouts (which would be required in XHTML anyway), so goodbye tables!
